The Invisible Dog Art Center is thrilled to present a dining experience by Frida Foberg as part of Nafas, an exhibition and a festival celebrating the union between food and art.
An individual farm-to-table meal featuring seasonal foods prepared by Swedish artist and architect Frida Foberg, served at her installation “Never Alone”. The guest will be seated by half of a table in-front of a mirror, where they will be served a light yet vibrant 3 course meal to be enjoyed in solitude. The meal takes place in the main gallery, and other visitors are likely to be present at the time of the event.
The cuisine is influenced by Frida’s Scandinavian roots. She works closely with regional and local organic farms, and builds the menu based on what is harvested at the time of the event. Guests can expect the three courses to feature seasonal produce and products, where vegetables are the majority of the meal.
Solitude Dining - the act of eating alone without being lonely. This performative meal is an invitation to make half a table whole, by having a meal with yourself. It provides a moment to be with that one person who is always there. That one person who is carrying around everything you experience. That one person who will never leave.
As much as this is a meal, it is also a performance. It's an act between the person dining and their reflection, an exchange that is only between them. For other visitors of the art center, they can observe this performance taking place, just as any other artwork exhibited.
The installation and performance is part of Frida’s larger body of work around the question “Why are we eating together” - a series on boundaries and expectations, rooted in the fascination of people and individual perception - of patterns and norms and accumulated filters through which we experience ourselves, our context and each other.

The meal runs for approximately 30 minutes.
